Oh, c'mon! I'm Matured Now!

Writer's picture: belleamebelleame

Oh, c’mon mom! I’m mature now…. okay!

We frequently shout this phrase as we see ourselves over everyone. The egoistic aspect of our character is on cloud 9 in this age. But what can we do ….? We are in the warrior stage, as per Shakespeare, (…. just showing off ….) and warriors don’t listen to anyone. But in this journey, we lost our innocence, our childish nature, our mischievousness somewhere. So, let’s grab a cup of cold coffee (summers you know) and take a stroll down the memory lane; when we were fearless, high spirited and sometimes full of rage over stupid things, when the most crucial discussion was which game to be played in the lunch break.

Now imagine the scenario of a class where each bench has its own story …...

In a corner, two girls who don’t even know WhatsApp or Messenger created their own ‘chat book’ on the last page of a notebook, gossiping about every single person of their class because HELLO!!! The lecture is sooooooooooooo boring. “Yrrr! ….. Shruti ka b’day aa rha, bol kya krna?”

Wait! Are those boys whispering about the meeting they are going to have near the water tank to decide the teams of their cricket match in the lunch break? “Sunn! Bol dio sabko, today’s conference is very important.” …...delightful.

Girls always have to pass remarks on their teacher’s outfit, right? “Ritu Mam has styled her rust outfit with silver watch again, she’s so sloppy!! Ohoo, Mam ne fir meri seat ladke ke sath kardi, ye to apni books bhi nhi lekar aata ☹.

What! Don’t give me looks, you outdated lad.”

RECESS TIME! Favourite? Isn’t it? Boys competing with the other sections “for their section’s honour” and girls, well, they just enjoy being girls.

Not again! That bossy boy is again whining about the smell of ‘AAM KA ACHAR’ in foil paper ball. “Find that fellow who didn’t share the ACHAR and kick him out of my team.”

That one kid in every class who falls while running and the reason is still a mystery because c’mon no one has even pushed or was hanging around that kid. “Guys, you know what! We’re gonna solve this riddle right now as we have had the fare share of practice in being the detective!!!

The silly requests, “Oye sunn, aaj mai center row ke first bench par bethunga so that sunita mam can borrow my book.” Ohhhhhh!! Was that a glimpse of smile? Don’t tell me you were the one who had a huge crush on their teacher.

Ahem! Well, don’t be shy we all were that gullible.

Hey! Hey! Hey! Look, how adorable those two girls are, scratching their names together in a heart with a compass on the table. “Now we’ll always be best friends.”

Ting!!!! No, don’t pick up your phone. It’s me checking up on you after this refresher about ourselves, about how much we changed through the years and got tangled in this worldliness. In simple words, “HOW WE MATURED”.

I’m not gonna bore you more, however, I would just like to say that, ’Life is not about big moments but all those tiny ones that lead up to them.’ Even Hazel thanked Gus for providing her their little infinity.

In the end, we must appreciate our little infinity and should never let our innocence go.

We can try that right! And now, you are familier with this path so whenever you’ll feel like some third force is living on your behalf, just grab a cup of coffee (hot or cold I don’t care, just decide that yourself) and ride down this same road again.
